Welcome to the Racers! Our Rivermist Racers swim team was founded in 1979. Our swimming traditions of Fun, Family, Community, & Excellence trace back 40 years of participation in the Gwinnett County Swim League. We are proud to have been among the first teams to create and join the league which has dedicated itself tirelessly to the advocacy of swimming skills, character building, and community involvement.

The Racers are a Summer Swim program, beginning mid-May and continuing through mid-July each summer. The size of the team varies from year to year but typically maintains a registration of approximately 120 swimmers ranging in age from 5 to 18 years. We practice daily, around 30 minutes for ages 8 & under, and 1 hour daily for ages 9 & up. Our practices are held between 4-7 pm for the first 2 weeks or so (after school) and from 8-11 am once school gets out.

Our Head Coach bring years of coaching and swim experience. Our assistant coaches have been raised in Rivermist and all grew up swimming on our Racers team! Many of them are year round swimmers and also swim for the Brookwood Swim & Dive team. Our Racers are built on a foundation of commUNITY!

Our mission is to provide a vibrant Summer swim program where kids of all ages can experience a safe, supervised, activity and build strong character while improving community relationships. It has been our experience that as kids learn how to swim and strengthen their skills and abilities in the water, they grow in self-confidence and promote their inner drive to succeed. Happy kids who are confident, have friends, believe in their abilities, and feel part of something bigger than themselves have all the tools to be successful in every area of their lives. There simply is no greater summer activity for your family than to join a summer swim team.

Because our Racers are built on commUNITY, we value every family member and require volunteer involvement from parents and guardians of each swimmer on our team. It truly takes every person to create a successful Summer swim program. Our swimmers and their families are expected to participate in the swim meets and to volunteer throughout the season. Those qualifying for the prestigious Gwinnett County Swim Meet in July will enjoy swimming at the Ga Tech aquatics facility in downtown Atlanta.
